Mitsubishi have unveiled the new and updated version of the ASX SUV, ahead of its full reveal at the Geneva Motor Show on 5th March, and commercial release at the end of the year. The vehicle has received a major overhaul, with the adoption of the latest Dynamic Shield front design, bringing it in line with the Eclipse Cross SUV.

Changes to the exterior include new LED headlights and taillights, a new skid plate design in silver, and the availability of three new colours: Red Diamond, Sunshine Orange, and Oak Brown. There is no view of the interior yet – this will likely be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.

The car also features a redesigned infotainment system. This includes an increase in screen size from seven to eight inches, and Mitsubishi’s Smartphone-link Display Audio system. The higher-spec models will also include a TomTom sat-nav with real-time traffic information. The system will eventually come with an app system that conveys information about the car to your smartphone, including the odometer, speedometer, warning lamp, remaining info, and other info. Plus, videos stored on USB memory sticks can now be viewed on the car’s infotainment system! The update also introduces new safety features, including forward collision braking, blind spot assist and rear cross traffic alert.

Additionally, there has been a complete overhaul of engine range – the old 2.2-litre diesel unit has been dropped, and for European markets the only engine choice is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder non-turbo petrol engine. Customers will have the option of either a five-speed manual gearbox or a CVT transmission with a ‘sports mode’ that mimics six physical gears. Both front- and all-wheel drive will be available in Europe.

These exciting updates show a step forward for the ASX model, and we are excited to see the full reveal on the 5th March, and to watch customers drive away in this new and improved car come the commercial release later this year.
