MG’s first ever electric car, the ZS EV, is set to go on sale in the UK later this year. The launch will be on 1st September 2019, with prices being revealed in August. This is an exciting time for MG, and the industry is anticipating the launch as a great addition to the electric vehicles currently available to consumers in the UK.

MG has already had a number of expressions of interest from buyers, who are eager to get their hands on this new model. The car will have an official range of almost 200 miles, with the ability to fast charge to 80% capacity in 30 minutes. It is powered by a 44.5kWh battery and, in addition to the rapid-charge capability, domestic charging on a 7kW unit takes six-and-a-half hours (from 0-100%). The car also comes with a number of advanced driver-assistance systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Assist featuring automatic low-speed steering, Blind Spot Detection, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Alert Control System.

The model will rival other electric cars, and reporters are expecting it to be good value for money. One of the most important features of the ZS EV is of course that it is more environmentally friendly than petrol or diesel vehicles, and with cities across Europe looking at bans on combustion vehicles, this car ensures customers are ready for the future.

Reviews of the look of the vehicle have been positive, with one publication reporting that the look and feel of the car is “premium” whilst the cost is not, and highlighting the technology on offer, such as Apple CarPlay, DAB radio, and a reversing camera.

Another report highlighted the functional excellence of the model, noting that it has an excellent turn of speed and handles well, as well as managing on various road surfaces. This review also highlighted the good looks and value for money of the ZS EV, and referred to it as an “alternative to other electric players in the market, as well as conventional petrol or diesel alternatives”.

Described as “an electrified arrow aimed straight at the heart of the mass market with its full-sized rear storage area and all the amenities drivers are looking for in a compact SUV”, the MG ZS EV “looks to be a beautiful entry into the compact electric SUV market for MG”.
