Last month Wayne and Nathan, our MD and Sales Manager, had the exciting opportunity to take a trip to China with William Wang, the MD of MG Motor UK. We flew out on Easter Monday from Heathrow to Shanghai, on a long flight that eventually landed on the Tuesday evening. We checked into our hotel, and then went straight into Shanghai for a wonderful meal and some drinks on the rooftop, with a beautiful view overlooking the bund and the city.

The next morning, we went to the new Shanghai SAIC Rowe showroom to see the new Marvel X, and some of the other prototype models. They look fantastic, and we are very excited for this company’s future. After this, we went to the Shanghai motor show, which was a great opportunity to take a look at the newest models from a range of different brands. That evening, we went to a lovely dinner with William Wang, and UK colleagues from CAP and GLASS’s guide.

We were up early the next day for the MG global conference, which was taking place just outside of the city centre of Shanghai. We had a press conference in the morning with China’s press, alongside other leading dealers from Australia, Saudi Arabia, Chile and New Zealand. This was followed by the MG global conference in the afternoon, with the full SAIC management, including the SAIC Motor President Mr Chen Zhixin. There were a thousand people present at the conference, and it was a great afternoon.

During the conference Nathaniel MG was awarded 5 Star Global MG Dealer 2019, an honour that we are incredibly proud of. Nathan also gave a 15-minute speech on the Nathaniel MG journey, and how we have become the UK MG Dealer of the Year (for three years running!). This was followed by a gala dinner, which was a great opportunity to relax and get to meet the other conference participants.

We were up bright and early the next morning at 5am for a trip to Beijing. Here, we visited Dongcheng, including the Forbidden City, and Tiananmen Square. We also got to taste the delicious local specialty of Peking duck, which was definitely a highlight!

The next day we travelled back to Shanghai, and from there we returned to the UK. It was a brilliant trip, filled with insights into the prospects of our company, and we are energised and raring to go with our MG future.
