New MG ZS Hybrid+ Arriving at Nathaniel MG this Autumn
MG Motor, renowned for its value-packed vehicles, has once again raised the bar with the launch of the all-new MG ZS Hybrid+.
This innovative compact SUV seamlessly combines the best aspects of electric and petrol powertrains, offering drivers an exceptional driving experience without compromising on affordability.
The big benefit is that the powertrain means drivers can seamlessly switch between smart electric performance and the power of petrol – saving money on your vehicle’s running costs while reducing your carbon footprint.
We think it’s a great choice for those who are not ready to go fully electric, or those who want to make a move away from a conventional petrol engine.
The ZS Hybrid+ also means not having to install a battery charger at home, since the battery is self-charging.
Building on the Success of the MG ZS
The 2025 MG ZS is creating a stir in the popular B-segment SUV market, appealing to drivers wanting a blend of style, practicality and affordability.
It is currently MG’s second most popular model and the ZS Hybrid+ looks set to build upon this success, offering a compelling proposition for those seeking a more eco-friendly and efficient driving option.
For potential drivers who may not understand the terminology, the ZS Hybrid+ is a self-charging hybrid. This means it doesn’t need to be plugged in to recharge – so you won’t have to buy a recharging point for your home or organise charging at a public charging station.
Instead, the car uses regenerative braking and the petrol engine to charge its battery. This setup allows for short periods of pure-electric driving – and lower fuel bills.
Expanding the MG ZS Range
With the introduction of the Hybrid+ model, the 2025 MG ZS range now caters to a diverse range of preferences.
Drivers can choose from the traditional petrol-powered ZS, the fully electric ZS EV, or the new ZS Hybrid+, ensuring there’s an option to suit every lifestyle and driving need.
However, the ZS Hybrid+ offers enhanced technology, improved comfort, and impressive performance, solidifying its position as a compelling choice in the popular compact SUV market. This is a great value for money compact SUV that’s hard to beat.
The Hybrid+ Powertrain: A Symphony of Efficiency and Performance
At the heart of the new MG ZS Hybrid+ lies a clever hybrid powertrain.
This advanced system seamlessly integrates a 1.5-litre petrol unit with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 196 PS (145 kW) and 465 Nm of torque.
This potent combination ensures a refined and spirited driving experience, capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in just 8.7 seconds. The car’s top speed is 104 mph with the power being delivered via an automatic transmission.
There are also three driving modes to suit your surroundings – Standard, Eco and Sport.
To help appreciate the differences, Eco mode is best for city driving and can allow you to go a few days without recharging the battery. Eco also offers the best fuel economy.
Standard mode offers a good balance between performance and economy, while Sport is best for when you need more power, such as mountain roads.
Plus, there are three energy regeneration modes – this is the option for selecting how you would like your battery to be recharged as you drive along.
Regenerative braking, also known as ‘regen’ braking, helps electric and hybrid cars regain kinetic energy that would otherwise be lost when braking.
The energy is then returned to the car’s battery as electricity for powering the wheels.
Regenerative braking has several advantages, such as reducing fuel consumption, extending battery life and reducing wear and tear. MG offers more details about how effective regenerative braking is and how it works.
